GMAT Overview
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a globally recognized business school exam to get into business school for pursuing postgraduate degrees. The GMAT exam assesses an individual’s business skills as well as other in-demand business world relevant skills such as data-analytics. Over 7,700 business schools programs throughout the world rely on GMAT scores for enrolling students in Master of Business Administration (MBA), MS in Management and other post-graduate business degree courses.
Ways To Take GMAT Focus Edition Exam
GMAT Focus in Test Centre
- The test-takers may choose to take the GMAT Focus Edition exam in person at GMAT test center.
- Test-takers choose from a list of test-centers and available time-slots.
- Test infrastructure such as desk, chair, computer, internet connection, electricity are taken care of by the GMAT exam centers.
- The exam is monitored by an in-person test-administrator.
- It is advisable to reach the exam test center 30 minutes in advance.
GMAT Online
- The test-takers may choose to take the GMAT Focus Edition exam online at home.
- Testing time slots are available 24×7.
- Test-takers must themselves arrange for all exam-related infrastructure.
- The exam is monitored by a remote proctor.
- Test-takers must log-in 15 minutes in advance to complete the check-in formalities.
However, both modes of taking the GMAT exam (GFE) have the same content,format and the process of receiving and reporting the score.
GMAT Pattern
The previous version of GMAT, that is, GMAT Classic Edition (GCE) has been discontinued from 1st of February 2024.
Currently, the GMAT Focus Edition (GFE) is the latest and sole mode for taking the exam.

Sentence Correction has been eliminated from the Verbal Reasoning Section.

Geometry has been eliminated from the Quantitative Reasoning Section. Data Sufficiency has been shifted from the Quantitative Reasoning Section to a new Data Insights section.

Data Sufficiency Multi-source Reasoning Table-analysis Graphics Interpretation Two-Part Analysis
A new Data Insights section has been introduced. It subsumes the Integrated Reasoning section and Data sufficiency questions. The Analytical Writing Section has been removed from the GMAT Focus Edition. Overall, the number of questions in GMAT (GFE) have been reduced as compared to the former GMAT (GCE). Overall timelimit for GMAT (GFE) has also been reduced as compared to the former GMAT (GCE).
GMAT Scores
- GMAT Focus Edition is graded on a scale from 205 to 805 in 10 points increment.
- The score of each section contributes equally to the total score.
- Both, Total score and Percentile score are considered by universities/colleges for admission.
- Generally, a score of at least 650 is considered a good GMAT (GFE) score. Score above 695 is considered an excellent GMAT (GFE) score.
- Good score is 655+ /805
IELTS Scoring
- IELTS is graded on a scale of 0 – 9, known as Band Scale.
- Test Report Form has the test taker’s overall score as well as scores for the Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Generally, a score of at least 6 bands for UG and 6.5 bands for PG is required in each section.

Salient Features of GMAT Focus Edition
- GMAT is Computer Adaptive Test. A testing software determines the difficulty level of the next few questions based on your performance.
- All the 3 sections – Verbal, Quant and DI are Computer adaptive.
- The 3 sections can be completed in any order by the test-taker.
- At the end of each section, the test-takers can book-mark and review as many questions as they like.
- Test-takers can edit upto 3 answers in each section.
- A detailed score report gives insights into a student’s performance in each section and each question type.
- Test-takers can send 5 reports for free within 48 hours of receiving their Official score reports. However, additional score reports can be obtained only after the payment of a fee.
- We Conduct both online and offline sessions.
GMAT Dates
The exam can be taken in GMAT exam centers in specific cities only. Different cities have different exam dates. However, the exam occurs every month throughout the year. It is recommended to book the exam 2-3 months in advance to avail preferable dates.
